The days were cold when we wandered over the mountains. We had no destination, we just followed our feet. He would look at me, smiling. His silence speaking volumes.

He was never one to squander words, we are alike that way. Calm observers. It was always with unspoken words that we talked. He showed me the way, taught me the lessons I needed to repair my life, by simply being there. He pointed at my horizon and I could see for the first time, what kind of man I wanted to be.

Respect, kindness, compassion and love.

Like my Grandfather.

100 words. I was inspired to try this kind of thing by reading some of Ela’s work. Check out her blog if you haven’t already, it’s worth it. ;) Lastly, the man in the photo is indeed my gradfather.

This is like haiku, only a little longer. I love the sincerity of this scene, the love and respect. It’s like… taking a breath. That moment when you look around and realize that what’s happening now means something, and you’ll remember it years from now.

    Thank you, Ela!
I owe a lot to my family, even though I don’t always like to admit it or show them that. But that’s family for you I guess, haha.
The way you share your thoughts, you do it in such a way that others see and feel what it is you’re writing about – and that’s a powerful thing. It is one of the reasons I keep coming back to read your blog. :) It is often the quiet ones that have the most profound things to say, they often choose their words with great care, and by doing so they inspire. Like you do.

  4. :) You are blessed to have such a wonderful grandfather, the fact that you developed your soul in a loving environment will give you strength and is the root of the man you are now.
Thank you from the heart for mentioning me, though you did not need to do it, the simple fact that you accepted my humble idea is an honour for me. You already have all the knowledge you need. You have strong ideas about life and an unique soul, you master English far better than me and you have an impressive vocabulary… :) I am just a quiet observer who would like to see you bloom. ;)

Thank you, he is one of the few people I look up to. He’s always been an inspiration for me, well, he and my grandmother! They’ve been together for 50 years and counting. :)
