The beast within

I have been yanking at this last chain for years,
I broke the fetters that had me bound,
Shattered these shackles of cold steel.
I struggle with this last chain,
Each link enhanced by one of my many fears.
But fear is not inanimate,
I share this chain,
With an ever-changing beast,
The true face of terror.
We are locked in a constant battle,
The beast and I,
Trying to strangle each other with the chain that binds us.
Sooner or later I will break free,
Courage is not the absence of fear,
But a will and determination stronger than cold iron,
In the face of it.
Bring it on you piece of shit.
